Test Grade Calculator converts marks into a percentage and a letter grade, and then shows the mark every other grade on the scale would have needed. That second part is what makes it more useful than dividing on a phone: knowing you scored 86% is one thing, knowing an A was two marks away is another.
Three scales are built in. The standard American one puts A at 90 and each grade ten points below. The plus-and-minus version splits each band into three, which is what most universities use for transcripts. UK degree classes run differently, with a First at 70 and a 2:1 at 60, because British marking rarely awards above 80 and the bands reflect that.
Bonus marks are handled separately because they behave oddly: added on top of a total, they can push a percentage above 100, which is correct and intended. The marks-dropped figure ignores them so it still tells you how much of the paper you actually lost.
The page shows its working, not just its answer. Where there is a formula it is printed with your own numbers substituted in, so you can check the result rather than take it on trust -- which is the difference between a calculator you can use for something that matters and one you cannot.
Everything runs inside your browser. What you type is never uploaded, never logged and never stored, and the calculator keeps working if your connection drops after the page has loaded.
The test grade calculator is used by writers, developers, students, marketers and anyone else who needs the job done once without installing software. Common cases include:
Use the one your institution uses. Standard and plus-minus are the common American scales; UK degree classes use the third option.
They are added to your score but not to the total, so they can take the percentage above 100. That is how most teachers intend them.
Yes. Fix the total once and change the score for each paper; the boundary table stays valid for the whole set.
Then treat the percentage as the answer and compare it against your own marking scheme. The percentage itself does not depend on the scale.
