Cookie policy
Which cookies exist, who sets them, and how to turn them off.
Last updated: 2026-10-14
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This page lists every category this site is involved with, who sets it, and what you can do about it. It is the detail behind the advertising section of the privacy policy.
Cookies this site sets
None. FreeToolStation sets no cookies of its own, for analytics, tracking, personalisation or anything else.
What the site does store on your device
| Name | ftw-theme |
|---|---|
| Type | Local storage, not a cookie |
| Purpose | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme |
| Contains | The single word light or dark |
| Sent to a server | No. Local storage is never attached to a request, which is one reason it was used here instead of a cookie |
| How to remove | Your browser's site-data settings, at any time |
Clearing it costs you nothing but the theme choice.
Cookies set by advertising
When advertising is running, Google and its partners may set cookies in your browser. These are set by them, read by them, and governed by their policies rather than ours. In broad terms they are used to:
- choose which advert to show, including on the basis of pages you have visited before;
- limit how many times you see the same advert;
- measure whether an advert was seen or clicked;
- detect fraudulent clicks and invalid traffic.
Google describes the cookies it uses for advertising, and how long each lasts, at business.safety.google/adscookies. Because the list changes as their systems change, we link to their page rather than copy a snapshot of it that would quietly go out of date.
Your choices
- Consent — a consent message appears on your first visit, and the Cookie settings link in the footer reopens it whenever you want. Declining, or not answering, means advertising is requested as non-personalised, so nothing about your browsing elsewhere is used to choose it.
- Turn off personalisation — Google Ads Settings lets you switch off ad personalisation across Google's network.
- Industry opt-outs — aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu cover many vendors at once.
- Your browser — every modern browser can block or delete cookies, per site or entirely. Blocking all cookies will not stop the tools working, because they do not use any.
None of these stop you seeing adverts. They change how those adverts are chosen.
Do Not Track
Browsers can send a Do Not Track header. There is no agreed standard for how a site should respond to it, and most do not. This site collects nothing to honour or ignore, so the question does not arise for us; what advertising vendors do with the header is set out in their own policies.
