About the Business Days Calculator

Business Days Calculator counts the working days between two dates, or adds working days to a date to find a deadline. Weekends are excluded, and so is any holiday you list -- public holidays differ by country and move every year, so they are an input rather than something the calculator guesses.

The weekend itself is configurable, because Saturday and Sunday is not universal. Friday and Saturday is the weekend across much of the Middle East, Sunday alone in several countries, and some contracts count every day. Getting this wrong on a thirty-day count shifts the answer by several days.

The count between two dates is inclusive of both ends, which is the convention contracts and notice periods use. The calendar-days figure is shown next to it so the difference is visible: a month that looks like thirty-one days is twenty-two working ones, and planning on the first figure is how deadlines get missed.

The page shows its working, not just its answer. Where there is a formula it is printed with your own numbers substituted in, so you can check the result rather than take it on trust -- which is the difference between a calculator you can use for something that matters and one you cannot.

Everything runs inside your browser. What you type is never uploaded, never logged and never stored, and the calculator keeps working if your connection drops after the page has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Are both dates included in the count?

Yes. The count between two dates is inclusive of both ends, which is the convention used by contracts and notice periods.

Why do I have to enter the holidays?

Because they differ by country, by region and by year. A calculator that guessed them would be wrong for most visitors and silently wrong at that.

Can I count backwards?

Yes, in the add mode: enter a negative number of working days to find a date before the start.
