Ideal Weight Calculator shows four published formulas side by side precisely because they disagree. Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi all take height and sex and return a single number, and for the same person those numbers differ by several kilograms.
That disagreement is the most informative thing about them. All four were devised between 1964 and 1983, mostly for clinical purposes such as calculating drug doses where a standardised body weight is needed, not as health targets for individuals. None of them accounts for build, muscle mass, age or anything else about a particular person.
The healthy BMI range is shown alongside and is the more useful figure. For a given height it spans roughly twenty kilograms, which is a realistic reflection of how much healthy weight actually varies between people. A range you fall inside is a better answer than a single number you are a few kilograms away from.
This is general information and not medical advice. The formula cannot know your medical history, your medication, your body composition or anything else specific to you. Speak to a doctor or another qualified professional about any question concerning your health, and never delay seeking advice because of a figure on this page.
Your measurements are processed inside your own browser. Height, weight, age and anything else you enter never leave your device, nothing is logged, and nothing survives closing the tab.
Looking for something this does not cover? FreeToolsZone.org is more free browser-based tools, organised by job, and it is worth a look if ideal weight calculator is only part of what you are working on.
The ideal weight calculator is used by writers, developers, students, marketers and anyone else who needs the job done once without installing software. Common cases include:
None of them, individually. They were built for clinical standardisation, not personal targets, which is why all four are shown rather than one.
Because healthy weight genuinely varies that much between people of the same height. A range is an honest answer; a single number is not.
Skeletal frame does vary, and the adjustment here is the conventional ten per cent. It is a rough allowance rather than a measurement.
