Speed Distance Time Calculator solves the relationship between the three: give it any two and it returns the third.
The arithmetic is one formula rearranged three ways. Speed is distance divided by time, distance is speed multiplied by time, and time is distance divided by speed. What makes it fiddly in practice is not the formula but the units: a speed in kilometres per hour with a time in minutes will give nonsense unless one of them is converted first. The calculator converts everything to a common base before calculating and converts back afterwards, so the units on the inputs can be whatever you have.
Time is accepted and returned in hours, minutes and seconds rather than as a decimal, because 2.4 hours is not 2 hours 40 minutes and that particular slip has caused a lot of missed connections. Both forms are shown.
Pace is given alongside speed for anyone running, cycling or walking. Pace is the inverse of speed, expressed as time per unit of distance, and it is what training plans and race splits are written in. A speed of 12 km/h is a pace of 5:00 per kilometre, and having both avoids the mental arithmetic mid-run.
Everything is worked out inside your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded, logged or stored, which matters for the financial calculators in particular: the figures you put into them are nobody else's business.
Looking for something this does not cover? FreeToolStation.com is a second collection of the same kind of everyday tools, and it is worth a look if speed distance time calculator is only part of what you are working on.
The speed distance time calculator is used by writers, developers, students, marketers and anyone else who needs the job done once without installing software. Common cases include:
Because 0.5 of an hour is 30 minutes, not 50. Decimal hours and clock time are different scales, which is why both are always shown.
Average. It assumes a steady speed over the whole distance. Real journeys with stops and traffic will differ, so treat it as a planning figure.
Divide the distance unit by the speed. The calculator does it, and shows pace per kilometre and per mile together.
Enter each value with its own unit. Everything is converted before the calculation, so nothing has to match.
